He speaks at Murray Fest in Iowa and shares about his travels to the festival. Ben takes a break from YouTube and gives his recipe for tomato pie. He looks forward to lighting off fireworks, but wants to be in bed by 10pm. Al has been working on new summer pasture. He has to worry about moose destroying fences. Al got new livestock. In today’s episode Al wears a sweatshirt while the other guys are dying in the heat. Jason and Ben deal with the June drought on the Homestead. Al’s first ever tornado warning. Ben continues to wait for parts for his mini split while the heat wave heats up. Jason shares that he sold two Kune kune piglets. The guys talk about pig breeding schedules. Jason shares about a new side project to help prevent break-ins. He prepares to leave for Iowa. He is still working on his PowerPoint and talk for the event. He’s been busy getting the farm ready to leave for the event. Al braves the heat this week and gets the waterlines done. Ben tells a story of building a waterfall with boulders and it reminds Jason and Al of similar stories from their past. Ben weighs in on all his produce harvest. He is stoked with the results. He has his pigs in the forest on a single wire. He Smoked a delicious rack of ribs this last week. The guys talk about why it’s so hard to sit still. See below for links!

We made it to one year on the Homestead Shop Talk podcast!!! In this episode, the guys talk about vacations and the beach. Ben updates us on his squash bug war. He also talks about his orchard harvest. His hodge podge Huggle mound produced a grocery sack full of potatoes. Jason shares about having a workshop on the farm this weekend in the heat. Al’s tractor gets a flat and he is embracing the dry weather. His pigs and turkeys are on pasture. Al orders a scythe. In this episode Al talks about his next Homestead project after the loss of his bull. He trenched waterlines, but things were not as easy as it was when Jason put in his. He also shares about his new Idaho pasture piglets. Ben shares that they are in full berry season on his property. He also got advice from our viewers on an organic squash bug killer. Ben’s two sows Farrowed. He is going to have to do a lot of castrating. Ben’s pressure tank on his well and parts of his mini splits went out. Jason’s week starts off with sheep drama. He is discouraged with sheep netting. He also talks about his dead bug in the wells system. The guys question if technology is really beneficial for the long term health the farm animals. Jason is thinking about putting pigs in a permanent space for the winter to make compost.
